Boxer Of The Month - Vito
I’m Vito and I’m looking for a family. I am the most amazing boxer ever. I run, I play, I enjoy walks and car rides. If you open chips, I will come running to bug you for one (or two). I’m smart and a fast learner. Mostly I’m a really happy boxer boy. I love to play with my toys and can entertain myself for hours playing with them. I’m a hoot.
I know so far I sound like every other boxer and mostly I am but one thing makes me special: I'm blind.
I see with my heart instead of my eyes. I don’t mind, really I don’t. I don’t even miss being able to see. I just miss having a family of my own. As you can tell I need a special family that understands I am just a regular boxer who is not afraid of special needs. If you show me where my bed and my bowl is, I will show you courage, strength, confidence, and faith in everything I do. Quite frankly, it does take guts to jump down from the couch or the bed when you live in darkness — and a healthy dose of confidence that the floor will be there. They can love me and I can inspire them.

Vito has learned to take his foster home's stairs one at a time both up and down and has learned the word “step.” Even so, his foster family thinks he’d be best suited to a one story home to avoid an excited tumble down. Otherwise, he plays w/toys, shows affection, and eats and drinks just like any other dog. He’s a happy guy!" Vito is extremely gentle, sweet natured, playful and loves his toys. He will entertain himself for a long periods of time, particularly with any toy that makes noise.
Vito is 3-4 years old and weighs 78 lbs. He does not like the crate, but does well when left outside it. He knows basic commands and enjoys walks (with a little guidance).
Vito is wonderful with other dogs, big and small. He is very affectionate with them and tries to lick their faces. If you would like more information about Vito, please complete our online adoption application today. He is being fostered by Allison and Jerry.
Note: Vito is unable to see, most likely due to a serious infection or illness that he had as a younger dog. He will need over the counter liquid tear drops in both eyes, twice per day in order to keep his eyes from deteriorating and becoming painful for him (he takes the drops easily).
Boxer kisses to Cheryl C. of Pensacola for sponsoring Vito! [Back]
