Originally a victim of horrific violence, Lilly Mae was a skin and bones pup who's throat was cut ear-to-ear and then she was tossed out by the road side. Once found, BARC was contacted and after a lengthy recovery Lilly Mae thought she had found her forever home, but through no fault of her own, she was returned to BARC.
Lilly Mae is now 4 years old and is the very best of both worlds! Outside she runs and plays fetch with all of the energy of a puppy. But inside she is relaxed and calm with the maturity of an adult dog. She knows sit, stay, come, off and down and she loves the word "walk!" If you are looking for a walking partner Lilly Mae is your girl.
She will stay off of the furniture until permission is given, then she loves to sit on the sofa with her head in your lap. She is crate trained but is not crated at her foster home, since she is perfectly trustworthy while home alone.
Lilly Mae is shy at first, but it does not take her long to trust and relax; then she won't leave your side and will give you the most tender sweet kisses ever.
Weighing in at 55 lbs., Lilly Mae is the picture of heath and is ready for a for-real-this-time forever home! If you would like more information on this pretty girl, please complete an adoption application today. She is being fostered by Cindy in DeFuniak Springs, FL.

Here is her story:
Poor Lilly Mae! A good Samaritan found a little skin and bones Boxer mix puppy stumbling along a dirt road in Brunswick, GA. Shockingly, someone had slashed her throat from one side to the other. The Samaritan contacted a BARC volunteer, who rushed her to one of our veterinarians. The wound was very deep, but fortunately did not cut any major veins or arteries. The veterinarian feels that someone sliced this helpless little puppy with a box cutter and left her to die.
Lilly is currently healing and learning to trust people again. She has a road to recovery, but will make a great dog for a great family someday! She is a 3-4 month old brindle female, very mild and timid, but is learning to wag her tail and chase her human foster kids in the backyard despite all that she has been through. She gets along great with her foster sisters, one of which is a female Boxer, and the other a female Poodle.
