"A dog has one aim in life... to bestow his heart." -J.R. Ackerly

Fiona

Fiona is a two year old, non-hearing boxer blend female. She may be small at 49 lbs., but her lively personality and loving nature more than make up for her petite stature. Fiona will sit for a treat and knows the sit hand signal as well. Fiona would do well in a home with a companion dog and would be a wonderful addition for an active family. Fiona is being fostered by Daniel in Tallahassee. [More]

Lanie

The following was written by Lanie's foster mom, Dana: As difficult as it was to say goodbye to our lovely lil Lanie today she's no longer in pain and is at peace. The short time she was in our home she just fit right in with her foster brother and sister, as well as her human foster brother. She loved helping Penney our pointer with hunting and pointing lizards. She also assisted with keeping the armadillo out of the yard. She and our boxer Diesel loved to bump each other out of the way to get attention. Lanie was loved by everyone in the neighborhood. She greeted folks at the fence each morning and "talked" to them. On our walks, she loved to keep pace with Penney and would even try to point. She loved to greet the neighbors. When she was excited her body would bend into a "U" and she would do her talk. Her nicknames were short stuff, Lanie bug, and doll baby.

The past few weeks her health started to decline. Her walks became shorter and then stopped. Her favorite digging spot became her favorite spot to lie and she would watch her foster sister point the birds and lizards. She would still perk her ears and lean her head forward to cheer Penney on. Last night, she refused to come inside and didn't want me to pick her up either. So, I got us both blankets and we slept under the stars and enjoyed what little time we had left together.

She went very peacefully and quickly today. She gave me her final goodbye kisses as to say, Ms. Dana it's time. As difficult as today has been Iím so thankful Lanie was a part of our lives even for this short period of time. [More]

Georgia Girl

Georgia Girl is sweet, but very shy; she came to BARC from a breeder, scared and very underweight. She is slowly learning to trust people and just wants to be near you all the time. Georgia Girl gets along great with the young boxer in the house and given her sweet, calm disposition we think she would do well with kids and other animals.

Georgia Girl would do great with any family as long as they understand her past and are patient with her as she learns the whole new world in front of her and comes out of her shell. She is fast becoming the happy boxer that she was destined to be. [More]

Hobie

Super is the word that comes to mind when thinking about Hobie; super handsome, super sweet, super gentle, super affectionate and super polite. This boy is a gem and how he ended up on the streets is a mystery, but he is now safe with BARC and enjoying the good life in his foster home.

Hobie is a happy boy with a calm, submissive nature. He currently lives with two small children, a female boxer blend and kitties. Hobie loves the children in house and is particularly gentle when meeting small children. He approaches them calmly, stands still for a moment in front of them, then sneaks in for a quick boxer kiss. Hobie naps during play dates and is unfazed by all the noise and activity. [More]

Carmin

Carmin, along with her sister, BeBe, have been bounced around a bit since the death of their owner. But now, with her foster family, she is remembering what it is like to be an indoor, family dog again.

A typical Boxer, Carmin is a clown who loves, loves, loves her toys. She carries her favorite ball all around the house and takes it to bed with her at night. Outside, she is learning to play catch and is getting pretty good at it. Her best trick, though, is taking the collar off her sister!

While she was being kept outside, she was given all she could eat; now at 60 lbs., she would benefit from a little exercise, but since she walks so well on a leash, that should not take long. [More]

BeBe

Following the death of her owner, BeBe and her sister Carmin were kept outside and bounced around before they came into BARC. Now with her foster family, she is remembering how great it is to be an indoor dog again.

BeBe has great indoor manners and is a fantastic house guest! She is calm, loving and gives the most gentle kisses. She minds very well and stays off the furniture. BeBe does not chew on anything that is not hers. She is a beauty, with a black mask, mysterious eyes and long legs - she could be a movie star for sure! [More]
