Beignet's past is a bit of a mystery. She was picked up by animal control as a stray in Georgia and taken to the shelter. Fortunately, that was not to be the end of Beignet. A boxer lover heard of her situation and bailed her out, hoping to place her with the local boxer rescue. No room could be found for her there, which was when we were contacted, so BARC to the rescue! With the help of family and friends and a couple returning from vacation, Beignet was able to hitch a ride from Georgia, through Alabama and is now happy as a Florida resident.
Each day we wake up to find a dog completely different from the one the day before. Best guess is that she was once a loved pet who was well trained but has forgotten much during her time as a stray. Beignet is the best looking boxer ever. Pictures do not do her justice!
Every time Beignet goes out we are constantly approached by people wanting to pet her and tell me how gorgeous she is.
Beignet loves, loves, loves her toys! Chew toys, balls, squeaky toys and ropes, she will even chase a stick. She is a total clown, who is more entertaining to watch than television. In the mornings she loves to chase dragon flies all around the yard. She has not caught one yet but it is so cute to watch her jump, twist & turn, and cut back & forth as she never gives up the chase.
During the time between the shelter and her arrival in Florida, she had a male boxer for a room mate. They played very well together as she did with the child in that home. More than her toys even, she loves her humans and is very, very affectionate.
Lest you think she is too good to be true, she is not (yet!) perfect. She seems to believe that meals eaten in the living room are fair game for her also, so beware! With that said, she does seem to prefer expensive coffee, cheap white wine, and likes her humus on the spicy side. Just sayin'. LOL
